Life Decisions? Shake an Eight

It’s really hard to make decisions–life decisions. It’s not that I don’t know what I want. I KNOW WHAT I WANT it’s just that it’s not an available option. ( If you know what I mean)

20 is a fairly young age, not that I am comparing… but A lot of people my age have already accomplished something in their life and well, I don’t have any. Nothing that I can say I am proud of. I may be suffering from intense inferiority complex but yeah. That’s just how I feel right now.

But this post is NOT meant to be a downer. I will stop talking about my frustrations in life.

I have this college friend who tweeted about using ze Magic 8 ball to make life decisions. It’s nutters, yes? But hell, when you can’t make decisions and you believe in the concept of fate, why not? So, she’s brilliant!

I found this site. Since I don’t have a magic 8 ball, an online simulation is fine with me. I asked it this: “Should I pursue this?”

Answer:

my reaction: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA  the Great 8 was stunned. BOO!

So I tried this spinning device that I have and answered the same thing.

LESSON LEARNED:

It’s either TRY AGAIN later and you might get a straight answer OR sit on it and pray hard for enlightenment.

Talk to GOD for guidance.

According to the facebook app, on this very day GOD wants me to know that…

AMEN. [I will lower my standards for happiness. (not sure if that's entirely positive)]

doodle no.2 | Happy Valentine’s Day!

VALENTINE’S–I’m not a big fan of this occasion. Mainly because I believe it is a holiday that was born out of consumerist ideals. However, it is amazing that people try to be extra lovey  dovey on this specific day of the year.

S/he may not be into you. That’s a sad reality for some but hey… you know what they say (well, according to Los Campesinos!),  you have to love someone slightly less to feel loved or get more love in return.

doodle no.2 | Happy Valentine's day!

The doodle above is a classic example of people who overthink little things (or people who don’t think of the significance of certain things). If you can relate, I had you in mind.

Whether yours is happily celebrated with your other half or by yourself… I wish you a happy Valentine’s day. Mwah!

I got inspired by the rain and made this.

Do you also hum Rihanna’s Umbrella whenever it rains?

Pina Colada Lolly

I’d be lying if I tell you my mom used to buy me this:

Pina Colada Lollipop by Linda's LolliesI found this candy at True Value (yes, a hardware store!). It’s by Linda’s Lollies and according to the  rack label, it’s homemade and the world’s favorite gourmet lollipop. I was really drawn to buy and taste this because 1) I’m a sucker for lollipops; 2) pina colada flavor; and 3) PINA COLADA flavor.

It’s an awfully big pop. Almost the size of a ping pong ball.  So it’s worth to spend Php 69.75 on it in terms of size. The taste however is not what I expected. Of course I know it won’t taste like pina colada the drink.  But I was at least hoping for it to be really coconut-y and a bit acidic (like the acidic taste you get when eating pineapples). Though it isn’t pina colada on a stick it still is yummy. Well, it could be if you’re used to really sweet pina coladas. ;)

p.s. Have you ever tried a bizarre/not-so-usual flavored candy?

Candy Covered Katy

“California Gurls we’re undeniable. Fine,  Fresh, Fierce we got it. . . lalala”

I was hoping my follow up blog is all about REAL CANDY  but I stumbled upon Katy Perry’s video for “California Gurls” and I’m writing about it instead. hoho

It may not be everybody’s cup of tea but boy did I enjoy watching it. It’s a little mind-numbing and senseless but yeah.  .  . Entertaining. (and yes, it’s  definitely a Yes To Candy)

Aside from the obvious fact that the whole set is candy wonderland, I really love Katy Perry for being so darn funny. Yes, the video is a little tongue-in-cheek and over the top. But it wouldn’t be Katy Perry, would it?

The video is like a girly-girl’s version of what Willy Wonka’s factory should be–frilly, pastel-y and dreamy. Although, I’m not really sure that Snoop would be my Mr. Wonka (at least he is chocolate?). Anyway, the video is just plain eye candy–there were lollipop trees, cotton candy clouds, candy cane snakes and badass gummi bears.  Everything looks soo good to eat but I’m pretty sure they’re all synthetic. Tee-hee

Oh! Did I mention Ms. Perry’s wardrobe? I love ‘em all! (but I’m not so sure of the red number with the whipped-cream-bazooka-brassiere thingum.) So,   I’m guessing there’ll be all sorts of candy-inspired parties now because of this? Or people will start wearing cupcake brassieres? I’m not sure but that’s a possibility.

Sweet Epiphany

Lately, my mind has been preoccupied with thoughts of growing up and growing boring. You could say I’m having a quarter life crisis. I just finished the ideal amount of education a person should get last April (that’s preschool to college). The idea of finishing should be reassuring but it made me worry about–everything! I even engaged in thinking dark thoughts but that’s all behind me now (I hope). Because last week, I had an epiphany.

I was at some hardware store last week buying paint for my room. While waiting in line to get my purchase checked out, I was busy fiddling with the items near the counter. There was a whole bunch of things there. From key holders to bicycle playing cards. But what really led me to epiphany was seeing a bunch of candy.

When I was a bit younger (like 10 years younger) my mom used to bring me candy as ‘pasalubong’. The candies I found at the counter of that hardware store (yes, hardware store!) are those candies that she used to bring me and my sister. Obviously, I got a little nostalgic but I really had an epiphany when I saw those candies. Seeing those candies made me realize that I should not grow bitter and grow “old”.  It made me say “Yes to CANDY!.” So this is a blog about candy and life’s candy. . . Because wouldn’t life be sweeter with a side of candy?
